Vrije Universiteit Brussel

In 2023, Dordtech installed a 1600kW(e) cogeneration (CHP) on the campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. This CHP will supply the campus with electricity for most of the year (5,000 hours), making the campus no longer completely dependent on the electricity grid. In addition, the residual heat from the CHP will be used to provide heat to the campus buildings. Thus, the CHP achieves an efficiency of over 90%, half of which is electricity and half of which is thermal energy (heat).

The high electrical efficiency of this Guascor Energy G-86EM generator set, together with our integrated flue gas purifier, made the VUB choose an installation from Dordtech. Our flue gas cleaner (DeNOx) provides an extreme reduction of nitrogen emissions, by reducing about 90% of the total NOx emissions.
